What counts as a good CPS score?

Most people click between 4 and 7 times per second with one finger. Six to eight is fast, and anything above ten normally means a special technique rather than plain clicking.

Scores drop over longer tests: a burst you can hold for one second is not the same as a rate you can hold for a minute. Compare your results within the same duration.

Techniques people use

  • Regular clicking — one finger, around 4 to 7 CPS.
  • Jitter clicking — tensing the arm so the hand vibrates, around 8 to 12 CPS.
  • Butterfly clicking — alternating two fingers on one button, 10 CPS and above.
  • Drag clicking — dragging a finger across the button so it registers many clicks at once.

Jitter and drag clicking strain your hand and wear out a mouse quickly. Stop if anything hurts.
