How to practise with a metronome
- Start slower than feels natural — the point is to play the passage cleanly, not quickly.
- Once it is clean three times in a row, raise the tempo by about 5 BPM and repeat.
- Struggling to stay in time? Switch the accent on so you can hear where each bar begins.
Why a browser metronome stays in time
Clicks here are scheduled directly on your device's audio clock, slightly ahead of when they need to sound, rather than being fired by a page timer. Page timers drift and stall whenever the browser is busy; the audio clock does not, so the click stays even.
