How the numbers are worked out
One beat at 120 BPM lasts 60000 ÷ 120 milliseconds. Every other note value is that number halved or doubled: an eighth is half a beat, a sixteenth is a quarter of one, and so on.
A dotted note is one and a half times the straight value, and a triplet is two thirds of it. The hertz column is simply 1000 divided by the millisecond value — useful for setting an LFO or a tremolo in sync with the track.
Why sync a delay to the tempo
A delay set to a random time fights the groove. Set it to a note value and the repeats land on the grid, so the echo reinforces the rhythm instead of blurring it. Dotted eighths are the classic choice for a delay that feels wide without cluttering the beat.
